EURid is a private, not-for-profit organisation contracted by the European Commission to manage the .eu top-level domain (TLD).
Since the introduction of .eu in December 2005, .eu has gained popularity and is amongst the most-used TLDs in Europe.
Currently around 3 million .eu domain names have been registered.
